Barby Lane
4 New-build dwellings set within a rural setting.
Drawing inspiration from the diverse architectural heritage of the village, our design serves as a respectful homage to its rich history of varied periods, materials, and styles. By blending contemporary elements with familiar residential aesthetics, the proposed form aims to seamlessly integrate into the fabric of the village while also asserting its presence within the current architectural landscape.
The positioning of the main dwelling along the street aligns with the traditional gable orientation observed in neighboring properties along Barby Road, enhancing the visual continuity of the streetscape. Meanwhile, the remaining units are strategically oriented towards the access road, echoing historical building articulations commonly found throughout the village.
Throughout the development process, careful consideration was given to preserving scenic views towards the countryside, ensuring that the parking layout was thoughtfully integrated to avoid dominating the streetscape along Barby Road.
