Wellcome Collection - Library Shelving
310studio were commissioned to create a bespoke library shelving unit for the Wellcome Collection library. Tasked with enhancing accessibility while optimising space, our team embarked on creating a bespoke library shelving unit.
Recognising the potential hazards posed by the existing staircase to visitors with visual impairments, we aligned our design with the Wellcome Collection's commitment to inclusivity and medical accessibility.
Our solution? A modular shelving unit strategically positioned to serve as both a visual and physical barrier, effectively mitigating the risk of collisions with the staircase. Additionally, the central unit of the shelving system doubles as essential storage for the library's collection.
