Main Gallery Toilets - Wellcome Collection

310studio was tasked with transforming the main toilet facilities at this renowned cultural institution. Situated on the ground floor, we embarked on a mission to revolutionise the traditional concept of segregated male and female toilets, opting instead for a unified 'super loo' space that caters to all visitors.

The result? Fully self-contained cubicles, each equipped with all essential facilities. In addition, we incorporated two ambulant cubicles and two fully accessible washrooms, alongside a state-of-the-art Changing Places facility, ensuring inclusivity for all.

Our commitment to accessibility extended beyond mere functionality. We meticulously crafted a bespoke Corian sink unit and drinking fountain, featuring dual-height levels to accommodate visitors of all abilities seamlessly.

Collaborating closely with an access consultant, we meticulously designed every aspect of the space to guarantee universal usability. From the layout to the colour scheme, every detail was carefully curated to ensure a welcoming environment for neurodivergent users.

This transformative project not only optimised the available space but also significantly enhanced the visitor experience at the Wellcome Collection.
