Wellcome Collection -Guardrail Structural testing
As part of our work at the Wellcome Collection, we commissioned Sandberg Engineers to carry out load testing on the existing handrails. This was a crucial step in ensuring the structural performance of the new guardrail extensions.
The testing focused on verifying the pullout strength of the original stanchions, ensuring they could safely support the additional load from the new guardrails, including the increased turning moments. The results provided the confidence needed to proceed with the design, balancing safety, performance, and integration with the existing structure.
This thorough approach has been key to delivering a robust and carefully considered solution for the space.
